What is the best way to make a decision on purchase order software?  You should start by doing your homework.  Make sure to research all of the purchase order options out there.  They key components you should be looking for are in order of importance: Full purchase order creation functionality which includes adding line items to a PO manually or from a catalog.  Vendor management functionality – the ability to add, edit and delete vendors and suppliers.  Product or catalog management – this includes the ability to create and edit the products you wish to add to a purchase order either from a catalog or from manually generated catalogs.  Basic reporting – these reports should show buying history and provide the tools to pick up on buying trends.  Returns, if you are taking the time to place your purchase orders electronically you will also want the ability to return product back to your suppliers.
