Coat Racks vs. Hat Stands
Most people interchange the words coat racks and hat stands for the same exact thing and while there may not be much of a difference there is a difference. They both start out the same. They both have heavy bases, central poles and limbs, but the limbs are where the main difference lies. The hat stand will typically have many more limbs than the coat rack and the limbs tend to be shorter with much bigger knobs on the end. The limbs of hat stands start at the bottom and go all the way up to the top of the central pole. The limbs of the coat rack generally only take up the top third of the central pole and they will be longer than those for the hat rack. Both are beautiful additions to your home decor and if you have the room you should consider purchasing one or the other.
