Compact Travel Packs
Teaching English abroad after college is becoming increasingly popular in this horrible job market for college graduates, and for many this is their first time outside the country. Because of that, it is important to guide these folks along the proper packing path. Suitcases are not ideal, because a major part of teaching abroad is taking lots of trips to explore exotic locales. Lugging a backpack around Southeast Asia after teaching in China for a year is not fun, trust me.
Travel backpacks offer an excellent alternative, and usually cost less than a good luggage set anyways! It is much more convenient to have all your belongings resting comfortable on your back than to have to rely on your arm strength to carry them around in bulky suitcases. Travel backpacks distribute weight evenly across the hips and shoulders, and good bags can make even a full pack feel very light. Bring along a good day pack for when you are traveling, and you can have everything you need at your fingertips.
