Is Carpet Underlay Important?
I would have to say carpet underlay is very important. Why? Underlay performs a few different jobs but first and foremost it is an excellent way to add more insulation to your home. By having that extra layer of foam on top of your concrete slab or floor boards you’re making it that much harder for the cold draughts to get in and the heat to escape.
That’s not even mentioning the benefits it provides for sound insulation, protecting your carpet from wear and tear or my personal favorite, it makes your carpet nice and spongy to roll around on!
The thicker your underlay the greater the benefits will be, although be aware that the price will rise in direct relation to how thick your underlay is.
