Methods and Ways to Stop Nail Biting

Nail biting is a habit that many of us get into as small children, but it sure is hard to stop nail biting as adults and many of us are at a loss for successful ways to stop nail biting once and for all.

There are a variety of methods to stop nail biting; ways are as unique as each individual is.  What works for one person might not work for you, on the other hand, you may find something that works for you alone and not for many others.  Below are a few ideas of methods people have used to kick that nail biting habit:

Nail biting cream or “stop nail biting polish” is a pretty popular method.  One advantage is that it can be used by men and women (the nail polish is clear) and also for children, if you have a child that you are trying to help stop biting their nails.  You just buy it, apply it like regular nail polish and then leave it at that.  The nail biting polish has a particularly objectionable taste that will discourage you from putting your nails in your mouth anymore.

Another method that some women have found works for them is getting a manicure, an expensive or fairly expensive one in particular.  After you have paid out a fair bit of cash to have your nails nicely done you may be less inclined to put them in your mouth.  Some women have also found that the color of the nail polish applied during the manicure is also a factor.  The brighter the better.

Another method that can work for children and adults alike is pretty simple and it is free too – just keep your nails clipped short.  That way there is nothing to bite.

These are just a few of the ways to stop nail biting but they have been quite successful for others and may be worth a try if you are trying to get yourself or your child to stop biting their nails.
