Squats are the most common, yet most important exercise that you need to perform if you want to boost your jump height. This particular exercise targets two vital muscles which are important when it comes to jumping; they are your hamstrings and your quads. You need to perform this exercise in an explosive manner, if you want to develop that explosive power.

Interestingly, there are a couple of variations that you can do in line with this exercise. One variation of the squat is called the “sissy squat”. This does not require the use of additional weights. To perform this, do your usual squat but as you go down, lean back and bend both your knees while standing tip-toed. Another variation that you can do is the one-legged squat. Extend one leg forward with both your heels flat on the ground and then squat with one leg. Do this for about three sets with ten reps for each leg.

Stretching your Achilles tendon is also great in improving your jump height. You can develop this particular muscle by performing toe curls or you can also reach for your toes while sat firmly onto the ground.

Another thing that you can do is to set a wooden stick onto the ground and start jumping side to side or back and forth over it. The trick here is to increase the height of the stick on a day to day basis. This will condition your mind and body and before you know it, you are jumping as high as you ever did before! This is a simple, yet effective technique that will add inches to your jump height.
