You no doubt have heard of the new craze in coffee drinkers’ worlds of the single service coffee machines. So what exactly are these innovative systems? Well most likely the most alluring aspect of these machines is that you get a fresh, excellent cup up coffee, tea of cocoa, in less than a minute. You are getting one cup at a time, so no more wasting an entire pot of coffee for one person.

These single service coffee machines work using something called Keurig K-cups. These are cups that contain a filter and also the exact amount off coffee, tea, or cocoa that you will need for one cup. These k-cups are air tight, so you can be sure that they will be fresh even a couple months after buying them. All you have to do is insert the k-cup into the machine and sit back and watch as a single cup of perfect coffee is brewed in front of your eyes in less that a minute. All you have to do is discard the Keurig K-cup when you are done, and your clean up is done!

When it comes to coffee, I have more fun brewing my own at home than I do hitting the national franchise shops. I do enjoy visiting the local one store “mom and pop coffee” houses, but I am still a stay at home brew master at heart.

I have many kinds of coffee makers and coffee maker accessories. I think my favorite coffee maker is the simple and elegant french press. My favorite accessory? That is probably a tie between my burr grinder and my hand painted serving carafe. The carafe was pre-made but painted and fired by an artist friend of mine and I think it is a simply stunning way to serve coffee to guests. I even use it when I am by myself because I enjoy it so much. I guess I am just a bit over the top when it comes to my coffee!
