Round Rugs for Your Bedroom

Large round rugs can look very good in bedrooms especially if you have a sizable square shaped expanse of floor remaining after the bed and other furniture are in place. There is something about a round rug which has a softer feel than a square or rectangular one and which makes it particularly suitable for a bedroom, where you want to feel relaxed and comfortable.

If you have hard flooring a rug is almost essential in any case to prevent the shock of getting out of bed and placing your feet on a cold surface especially in winter. The softer the rug the better and any wool or sheepskin rug would be good choices. But there are some newer types of rugs which you may not have considered which work very well in some styles of bedroom. Consider whether a round shaggy rug made of cotton strips might be just the thing to finish off your room. These rugs are washable and are available in all kinds of colors to go with any room scheme but they are really only suitable for modern contemporary rooms. If you have a formal or traditional bedroom you might be better with a plain wool or even a Chinese rug in a complementary color.

Of course, color is all important when choosing a rug and although you may be using your rug to inject color into a neutral bedroom you will need to make sure it works as a complementary color. As you obviously cannot bring home a whole lot of rugs to test out, use a paint color chart to determine which colors will work with your current furnishings before ordering. It can be quite tricky to work out colors from those little paint squares but it is better than being completely in the dark about color when purchasing a rug.

Different Bathroom Lighting Ideas

If you are unhappy with your bathroom lights, there are several things that you can do today to make your bathroom look better without having to break the bank with an entire bathroom renovation. First, try changing your bulbs to ones that are a higher wattage than the one that you have right now. This will create more light and make your bathroom seem a little bit less dim and dingy. You can also change one or more of the light fixtures in your bathroom to ones that allow more light. One example of this is changing from a colored light shade to clear ones. Finally, this one requires a bit more expertise, but still does not require lots of money. Try to install a dimmer switch in your bathroom. This will give you more light when you want it and less when you do not want it.
