Black mold is a fungus that thrives in damp environments. It grows constantly under moist conditions. Mold is considered the top reason why people suffer from sinus issues. The three hundred percent increase in the cases of asthma in people has been connected with mold growth. If a homeowner suspects a problem, there are ways to safely conduct black mold removal.

There are many signs that mold may be the issue. For example, mold loves humid places just as much as wet places. Molds need water to grow. Leaking water pipes are a number one place to look for mold growth. If you have a leaky pipe, ensure it is fixed immediately.

It seems more and more of us love the idea of making our own products so that we know what goes into them. Plus, it’s much less expensive to make them ourselves. And who wouldn’t love to save a buck or two during this economic depression we’re in right now.

If you don’t have a lot of the stuff to worry about or if it’s on a surface that doesn’t absorb as easily as most surfaces, then it’s probably safe to say that a simple solution of bleach and water will kill the deadly mold.

However, you should be aware that bleaching the troublesome spot doesn’t always work for a permanent solution, and the mold might even come back.

There’s also a lot of talk about using undiluted vinegar or rubbing alcohol on the molded surface. The reason is because both are a much safer alternative on some materials such as leather and it’s better for the environment and your lungs.

Others swear by soap and water. While this might clean up the dirt in the area, it’s probably not going to kill molds unless it contains some form of bleach.

And of course there’s always Mother Nature’s favorite, sunshine! However, there is a drawback to using the sun for the removal of black mold. Sunlight can actually fade some materials, especially when it comes to carpets and rugs. So as you can tell, not all home remedies may be the best option, but they certainly seem like a better choice when it comes to the pocketbook.
